The Dr. Frank 2008 Meritage was made using the classic Bordeaux style. Consisting of a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, this full bodied red wine features a deep ruby color followed by intense aromas of vibrant blackberry, plum and cassis and will age gracefully. Enjoy the Meritage on a cold winter night with your favorite hearty meal, such as steak or lamb dishes.

Meritage Bean Casserole

2 cups canned red beans, drained and rinsed  2 cups canned lima beans, drained and rinsed  2 cups canned black beans, drained and rinsed  1 tablespoon olive oil  1 cup lean ground beef  2 slices bacon cut in pieces  1 red onion, chopped  4 cloves garlic, minced  1/4 cup brown sugar  2 tablespoons dijon mustard  3/4 cup prepared pasta sauce  1/4 cup Dr. Frank Meritage (or Cabernet)  Combine drained beans in 2 1/2 quart casserole and set aside. In a large skillet heat oil and cook the ground beef, bacon, onion and garlic until meat is lightly browned. Stir in brown sugar, mustard, pasta sauce and wine and cook for an additional 3 minutes. Add mixture to casserole and combine with beans. Cover and bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.

Dr. Frank 2009 Grüner Veltliner

In late 2010 Dr. Frank's released their first vintage of Grüner Veltliner. This white wine variety features a wonderful nose of floral, melon and honeysuckle while the mouth has a burst of crisp apple that finishes off with white pepper heat. Very food friendly, this wine pairs well with spicy Thai foods and salmon. This is the first vintage of Grüner Veltliner for the winery and it is of exceptional quality. Grüner Veltliner grapes are perfectly suited for the Finger Lakes climate, and many are saying it could be the next big grape for the Finger Lakes.
